ASME New South Wales
ASME NSW represents the music educators of the state in a number of ways which includes:-
- Representing the views and needs of school, tertiary and studio music educators in local, national and international discussion, promoting equity of access to quality music education for students across the state, advocating for a quality music education for all
- Offering various professional learning activities to support the needs of the members, including workshops, forums and lectures where appropriate, across city and regional locations (including support of the National Conference every two years)
- Working alongside the National Executive to respond to, and implement emerging information about new curriculum, teacher training and approaches to teaching music
- Collaborating with other music associations and organisations (KMEIA, Orff, AMEB etc) to promote music in Australia in a range of settings
- Supporting new and emerging teachers as they enter the profession, offering support to attend inservice and conferences, combined with access to resources and newsletters as a means of sharing new practice
ASME NSW continues to support
- Quality Music Education in schools, studios and tertiary institutions
- The ongoing development and application of research to foster Music Education
- Emerging research and pedagogy related to music education (Neuroscience, Motivation, Technology etc)
- Quality communication, dissemination, discussion and review of policy and curriculum
- Activities that serve to provide advocacy for music education across all settings
