ASME QLD Young Composers’ Competition Showcase 2021

ASME YCC 2021 Logo White

The annual ASME Queensland Young Composers’ Competition provides the opportunity for young composers from across Queensland to submit their newly composed works for critique and assessment by our adjudicators who work as professional composers in Australia and overseas. In 2021, we have had the honour to have Mrs Lisa Cheney, an Australian composer and arranger who co-founded the monthly series Making Waves, which shines a spotlight on newly composed Australian music. As well as this, Dr Dan Pratt adjudicated all the way from London as he is currently course leader for BMus Performance and Recording at the London College of Music among many other things. Finally, Mr Martin Emo provided insightful feedback hailing from New Zealand while being an education consultant for electronic music software companies and completing his research for his doctoral dissertation at Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington.

ASME Queensland is proud to be in partnerships with Topology to present the Senior Instrumental/ Vocal prize winner with individual mentorship as part of Topology’s Launchpad Program, Other Music, to further enhance the Digital Audio Workspace (DAW) for the Senior Electronic prize winner and Hazzard Sound providing a professional recording session for the Senior Songwriting winner. See below a message from our sponsors.
