The National Young Composers Project is held biennially in conference years. The next conference year is 2017. Further information will be released in 2016.
In 2017, each state chapter of the Australian Society for Music Education (ASME) will select a Young Composer who will be invited to attend the ASME XXI National Conference. ASME WA will fund the airfare, accommodation and student conference registration for one selected WA Young Composer.
At the conference a special programme is provided and the Young Composers will be involved in workshops with a professional composer. The selected students’ works will also be performed at the conference concert.
To enter you must:
• Be aged between 16 and 20 years at the time of the National Conference in 2017.
• Have composed the submitted work whilst at high school.
•Submit a composition. The submission must include:
-An electronic copy of the score on CD
-A paper copy of the score and all parts
-A recording of the composition (computer recording is fine)
-A written statement reflecting on the intention, process and outcome of the work
